Intoxicated

Intoxicated formed in Florida in the early 1990s and came out of the same state whose death metal history gave heavy music some of its most violent foundations. The band began as a thrash metal act, releasing several EPs through the mid-1990s before entering a long quiet period. Their return in the 2020s repositioned Intoxicated as a sharper death/thrash band, still rooted in speed and crossover aggression but heavier, nastier, and more in line with old-school Florida extremity. The Walled EP signaled the comeback, while Watch You Burn delivered a full-length blast of compact, riff-heavy metal with songs such as "Assholian Mode," "Grovel," "Revelation Denied," and the title track. The album's sound is raw but not careless, drawing from Kreator, Death, Obituary, Municipal Waste-style crossover energy, and classic speed metal. Intoxicated's appeal is in the collision of eras: early thrash attitude, death metal grime, punky momentum, and the feeling of musicians returning to unfinished business with more force than nostalgia.
